The Land of Misfit Toys by William-John-Holly The Land of Misfit Toys by William-John-Holly
This one took a little while to draw. It started as an attempt to experiment with some different types of drawing styles that would make things look more three dimensional. I used a lot more black than I usually would to try to make things pop a bit more and I spent a lot more time on each individual character than the five seconds that I would usually take.

(One year later edit): I recorded myself shining a light on the drawing to show how cool it is when the light reflects off of the ink when you see the original in person. You can check that out here: [link]

You mentioned using more black than you usually would, however, I appreciate the balance and contrast throughout. There's so much going on in this yet enough control to keep my eye interested without feeling overwhelmed. Positive and negative space merge together seamlessly to reveal continuous images! Your use of several styles is hinted but not overly apparent. As I always try to be too nice I have to say something constructive... I would like to see more interest or maybe depth in the largest face closest to me but It's still a difficult call as there is enough detail throughout the work as a whole. Can't wait to see more~

Sry for asking. How do you get such super high resolution scans? Or are they photographed?

My scanner has a setting for 1600dpi scans.  Most scanners that I've found at officer supply stores have had comparable scan quality settings.  I'm using some Lexmark scanner that isn't currently near me so I can't check the model number.  And no worries about asking questions, all questions are welcome :)

1600dpi! wow, ok. I usually scan at 300 or 600 dpi, but for prints such a super hi resolution is probably much better. Thx for the answer :) I'll try it with my next pic.

Hahaha, no problem friend!  I usually don't like the quality of scans of my work unless I can see my fingerprints in the ink.  It really does look great blown up on prints!

Wow, this is an insane amount of detail. The creepy snake thing coming out of the easter island head guy is my favorite

I love it. Especially the morning star worm. My interpretation leastways, also the dotted humanoid.
